Series: “Hope for a Prodigal Planet” (Romans 1)
Does it seem to you that our world is
more out-of-control than ever before? That our world is moving in the wrong
direction morally and spiritually? Each day brings fresh stories of violence,
terrorism, shootings, and heartbreak. The dark evidence of living in a broken
world is all around us and can easily overwhelm us. I have asked many times, as
I’m sure you have too, “Why is the world the way it is?” And I’ve wondered,
“What is the solution to our problems?” Repeatedly I have found perspective and
hope from the first chapter of the book of Romans. Although Paul paints a vivid
picture of the darkness of sin, he unapologetically shares the only hope for
our prodigal planet – Jesus Christ! Over the next four weeks on Sunday mornings
we will take a look at this theologically rich and relevant chapter that speaks
God’s truth to our culture on many levels.
“The Gospel: God’s Power to Make
Right Our World”
16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel,
because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:
first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness
of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just
as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’” Romans 1:16-17
