Where We're Going and How We Plan to Get There

CBC Vision (5 Year Horizon Story Line)
Where we’re going and how we plan to get there
October, 2019
Beyond the Horizon (5 Years)
How will we as a church remain committed to God’s unchanging Word in a changing world? How will we continue sharing the timeless and essential Gospel in our day and to the future generations? Imagine with me our church with the symbol of an oak tree (see Psalm 1:3), which is incorporated into our church logo. A healthy tree has roots that run deep and wide. A good root system allows the tree to receive rich nourishment and grow upward and outward in healthy ways. With that image in mind, our church in the next five (5) years will focus on spiritual formation integrated with institutional renovation so that we will be a vibrant and compelling Christ-centered presence bringing the life-changing Gospel to persons in Carrollwood and beyond. Think of this as a five-year plan to get FIT: Spiritual Formation with Institutional Renovation leads to Transformation. Can you envision the impact we can make in the lives of people for the Gospel when spiritual formation and institutional renovation occur? We can and we are excited about the journey that will take us there.

Background Vision (3 Years)
In order to reach our destination, we first have to accomplish these four (4) big things in the next three (3) years:
·         Glorify. Provide multiple weekend worship opportunities that engage both believers and the unchurched in meaningful and relevant ways.
·         Evangelize. Increase baptisms to 20 per year through effective outreach.
·         Multiply. Increase our small group average weekly attendance by 50%.
·         Simplify. Streamline programs and systems for consistency, focus and kingdom purposes.

Midground Vision (1 Year)
Our focus for next year is to begin at least ten (10) new continuing small groups.

The Next 90 Days
The four (4) immediate steps to make this happen are:
·         Small Groups. Begin a “We Care” emphasis where every CBC member and/or regular attender will be personally contacted for prayer and to invite to participate in a small group.
·         Upward Sports. Increase the level of church member/attender participation in our Upward Basketball program to 25% of our regular weekly attendance.
·         First Impressions. Implement a comprehensive first impressions ministry.
·         Evangelism. Conduct a “Who’s Your One” or similar evangelistic emphasis culminating in an evangelism Sunday.

I’ll be sharing much more about this exciting vision this Sunday, October 13th during the Sunday morning message. Be in prayer and be open to how God wants to use you in the coming days for His glory.

See you this Sunday as we glorify our wonderful Lord and Savior!
